Let met tell you about the wedding day of one of the sweetest couples I've had the joy to document! Kayleigh reached out to me last spring knowing that they wanted a wedding day with privacy and they wanted to focus on sharing the experience with each other. They're homesteaders and also loved the idea of getting married somewhere outdoors that represents them and their love for the outdoors, an adventurous elopement was the perfect match for them! They actually decided on getting married at Cook Forest when they went to visit another location that I had recommended to them, and made a stop there as well. I'm so happy they went in that direction, but their elopement was an ethereal dream! The old woods, the mossy logs, the fern covered forest - every bit of it was magic!
They began their day at the Bear Creek Cabins, located in the Allegheny National Forest, and located 2 houses away from my camp where I was staying, which was a super convenient coincidence! Jesse went out to pick up their wedding cake while Kayleigh awaited my arrival with their pup, Koda, who was of course there to supervise his mom at all times! Jesse's face lit up when he arrived back at the cabin to see Kayleigh in her dress looking absolutely stunning! They shared a moment and knew that this was really happening and it was going to be everything they wanted.
We met up with the officiant, who drove all the way from Lancaster and was so lovely throughout the experience! We hiked a short time to a spot that Kayleigh and Jesse had found on their adventure, and it was cute watching them look at the map that they saved and marked with "their spot". It was just off the trail among the tall pines and fallen tree overlooking the valley below. It was such a beautiful ceremony they shared, and I loved that they incorporated a Celtic hand-fasting ceremony too! The cords that they purchased were custom made to represent them. After they "tied the knot" (literally!) they popped some bubbly and toasted to forever.
You could definitely feel their excitement and happiness during their hike back out! We stopped for portraits in a few spots on the way back, which gave them the opportunity to hold each other, express their love, and be present with each other. It was such a beautiful place to share their experience!
After their adventure, we went back to the cabin for a few photos with Koda, which he was SO excited for! He shared some kisses with mom & dad and jumped for joy as Jesse spun Kayleigh around. I left them shortly after, and they grabbed dinner from a restaurant nearby and had a chill evening as a little family.
So grateful to have been their photographer and share this experience with them! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Lobb!
